Fluoride Treatment

The Process
To begin treatment, your dentist will place a specialized mouthguard to protect against gum irritation. Then, a fluoride gel or varnish is applied to your teeth. The fluoride will stay on your teeth for about 1-4 minutes. Afterward, you will spit out the fluoride and avoid rinsing subsequently. We recommend avoiding eating or drinking for 30 minutes following treatment. Your fluoride treatment will be maximized thereafter with the best cavity prevention measure!
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatment is applied by your dentist in a varnish form using a brush and is perfectly safe. It acts as a protective coating on your teeth to help prevent new cavities from forming and to stop cavities that have already started.
In addition to receiving fluoride treatment at our dental office, it can be applied to your teeth through fluoridated toothpastes and mouth rinses. Mouth rinses containing fluoride in lower strength are even available over-the-counter. However, if you need stronger mouth rinses, those can be prescribed as well.

Fluoride benefits both children and adults of all ages. It specifically helps by making your teeth more resistant to plaque and sugar build-up, which causes decay. It can also speed re-mineralization and disrupt acid erosion.
